about

In the tradition of old school hip-hop, Sia-Love's sophomore EP demonstrates her lyrical prowess while tackling sensitive issues such as dangerous love ("Good Girl"), self-validation and cultural roots of hip-hop ("For the Record"). Finally, it honors the ancestors and challenges the status quo with a soft hip-hop rendition of "Angelitos Negros" (Little Black Angels). "Angelitos Negros" is an anthem of Black pride that has been covered by many legends, including Roberta Flack and Eartha Kitt (who also sang it in English).

While Sia-Love's debut EP (also found here), celebrated sounds of Jamaica and the French Antilles with the original composition, "Sweet & Lovely". "For the Record" album ends with a journey from Venezuela, to Mexico, to the US with the song inspired by Andre Eloy Blanco's poem "Pintame Angelitos Negros."

We hope that you will enjoy this journey through sounds of the African diaspora!
